Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Bloodlines?
Bloodlines is a Second Life® Roleplay System created by Lyle Maeterlinck and Mars Bracken, owners of the Liquid Designs company. It features Vampires, Lycans, Humans, Angels and Demons. One can create or join families, recruit minions, collect large clans, make alliances or declare war, rank up and become a royalty, participate in achievements and much more. How many HUDs are there and how do they work?
There are 5 main HUDs so far, namely the Thirst HUD (Vampire), the Rage HUD (Lycan), The Human HUD (Human), the Torment HUD (Demon) and the Ascent HUD (Angel).
Please visit the Bloodlines Gear page for detailed information on how to use them.
I need information about stats, ranks, souls, rarity diamonds and everything else the game has to offer, where can I find it?
Feel free to visit the Bloodlines Guide in order to find fully detailed information about everything you need to know about the game.
What is the bite-spam phenomenon?
The Bloodlines Roleplay System works with HUDs which have many functions. One of them is the attack feature. Since Bloodlines requires their players to "feed" in order to stay "alive" and to recruit new members if they wish to rank up, some people infiltrated public places on the Second Life® grid and spammed residents with bite-requests. This situation reached such big proportions that many places decided to ban players using Bloodlines HUDs and even the Lindens were forced to ask Liquid Designs to find a solution to this issue. Liquid Designs responded by creating the Garlic Necklace which protects residents from Bloodlines attacks if they do not wish to partake in the roleplay.
Is Bloodlines a pyramid scheme?
The answer is NO.
Let's elaborate. Bloodlines may look like a pyramid scheme at first sight, especially since it's a business model which recruits members via a promise of higher ranks, statistics or achievements for enrolling others into it and of course as recruiting multiplies, recruiting becomes quickly harder or even impossible. BUT unlike Bloodlines, pyramid schemes do not supply investments or sale of products or services and end up to be unsustainable and are often illegal.
In fact, Bloodlines is rather a multi-level marketing which is a marketing strategy for the sale of products or services where the revenue of the company is derived from a non-salaried workforce and customers selling and/or buying the company's products/services, while the earnings of the participants are derived from a binary compensation commission system (in this case such as liaisons, blood bank owners and anyone else who plays or uses their affiliate vendors).
This being said, one does not need to rank up or participate in any kind of competition to be able to enjoy the Bloodlines Roleplay System.
Is Bloodlines addictive?
YES it can be highly addictive, especially for people who love to roleplay mystical creatures like Vampires, Lycans, Humans, Angels and Demons. Anyone who is driven by competition might also succumb to the game's charm. It is a fantastic game for anyone who likes the genre, but always be a responsible player and watch out for your expenses.
